Built on a challenging, steep slope with a 10-foot grade change, this modern landscape project called for precise design and exceptional craftsmanship.

The Vision

The clients imagined a peaceful yet practical outdoor space that would allow them to fully enjoy the stunning mountain views while feeling private and secluded from nearby homes. They wanted a space that felt like an escape, blending relaxation with room for family life, all while keeping things simple to maintain. Their vision was about creating a modern, inviting landscape that would serve as a sanctuary for both adults and kids — somewhere they could gather, play, and unwind, all within a natural, serene setting.

The Design

The design focused on transforming a steep, sloped site into a functional, low-maintenance haven that blends seamlessly with its natural surroundings. Smooth concrete and artificial turf created a modern, minimalist aesthetic, while evergreen shrubs provided privacy and a touch of greenery year-round. The space was designed to flow effortlessly between the upper and lower levels, with a custom-built bench maximizing seating and play areas. The pergola-covered seating and water feature added tranquillity, making the yard feel expansive and intimate, perfect for family gatherings and quiet moments alike.

  • Project Challenges

    The steep grade and limited access posed significant logistical challenges. Materials were carefully transported to avoid disrupting the cul-de-sac, and multiple trades coordinated for successful installations.

  • Water Feature

    This custom water feature is designed to attract wildlife and enhance the landscape’s sensory experience. It adds a lively element while strengthening our connection to nature in an urban setting.

  • Maintenance

    The landscape is designed to be low-maintenance, with minimal upkeep required for the artificial turf and periodic cleaning of the water feature, which supports local wildlife.
